Sweet Tin Teapot

A square sweet tin of the kind that used to sit on a dresser and never held sweets. Deep navy glaze, two hand-painted gold borders top and bottom, and a wrapped twist sweet modelled in gold as the lid finial.

The panels are deliberately blank. Real tins carry a confectioner's name, and we are not going to borrow somebody else's — so the decoration does the work instead, and the flat navy field is what makes the gold read. It also means the pot looks like a piece of ceramic rather than a copy of a package.

The squared body holds more than a round pot of the same height and is the easiest one in the range to fill. It is also the heaviest, which is worth knowing if you plan to lift it full.
